No need to serve boring food at your next party. With these unique seafood recipes, any party is sure to be a success.

Gluten Free Garlic Cheese Biscuits

Yes, we can eat at restaurants while living with our gluten free sentence! Meat with no sauce, veggies with no sauce, a salad with no croutons and limited dressing choices! In our silent torture, we sit and eat our meal devoid of carbs as our friends devour the bread and rolls! I have a remedy to our deprivation! If you love soft, warm, cheesy garlic biscuits, read on!

Baked Shrimp And Yellow Squash Recipe For The Toaster Oven

I absolutely love creamy shrimp and pasta dishes but will only eat them occasionally because I know they are not the healthiest option. Dishes such as those can come with a hefty calorie count that can blow your diet in one meal. Here is a healthier version that will wow you with its flavors.

Bruschetta Topped With Garlic Scape Pesto

Bruschetta has been made in Italy for hundreds of years. It may surprise some to know what actually qualifies as bruschetta. Although most Italian-American restaurants tend to rely on almost identical recipes including tomatoes, garlic, cheese and onions the earliest bruschetta recipes pre-date the introduction of tomatoes to Italy. So what exactly is bruschetta? Quite simply, it has traditionally been toasted bread topped with olive oil and rubbed with fresh garlic. That is really all you need for authentic bruschetta. Sounds more like garlic bread, you say? Well, that’s because it is. Any additions made to the bread do not alter its status as bruschetta, hence all the bruschettas loaded with a myriad of ingredients. My favorite bruschetta is topped with garlic scape pesto. I do skip the traditional rubbing of the garlic clove, since there is already a strong garlic flavor in the pesto. Here is my recipe for homemade garlic scape pesto followed by a foolproof way to make perfect bruschetta in your toaster oven.

Medieval Lasagna Meets Modern Day Lasagna

The first known reference to lasagna dates back to Medieval Italy. It was quite different from the well-known dish of today. For starters, there were no tomatoes in Italy at that time and therefore no tomato sauce. Instead the noodles were simply topped with grated hard cheeses and spices. The second large difference is in the noodles themselves. They were cut into squares, about 2 inches by 2 inches. And the dough that produces the noodles was distinctly different from modern pasta dough. It was fermented with naturally occurring yeasts just as breads of the time were, also referred to as naturally leavened. This gives the lasagna noodles a much different texture due to the gasses produced during the rising process.

Southern Cheese Grits Recipe

The very first time I got cheese grits was in the Bluebird Cafe found on Prytania Street in New Orleans. I had tried grits with butter on more occasions than I could count, yet under no circumstances had I ever had grits with cheese. The very idea of putting freshly grated cheddar cheese on grits almost knocked me off of my seat!

Barbeque Sauces – Making Your Own Is Easier Than You Think

If I want to avoid high fructose corn syrup, I have only one choice in the barbeque sauce section of my grocery store. That choice is not all that exciting, so I decided to make my own. You can do it, too, in the time it takes you to go to the store and back. Here are the basics of making your own barbeque sauce, flavored to suite your own taste.

Satisfying My Sugar Cravings With Avocado Soup

With all the hot, hot, hot weather we are having, I like to avoid heating up the kitchen and making it even hotter. So, after I have exhausted the usual outdoor grilling tactics with hamburgs, vegetarian hot dogs, grilled Vidalia onions in a packet, grilled pork chops with my homemade barbecue sauce, and of course the proverbial grilled chicken breasts, I go looking for something else.

Adventures With My Ice Cream Maker

When I spent $25 on ice cream for my family I realized it was time to make my own for a fraction of the cost and a lot more fun. In this article I share the lessons I learned and the recipes I love for making your own ice cream.
